Meet in Hanes Gallery, Scales Fine Arts Center

Sorry, this event is full.

Tour highlights of the Wake Forest Contemporary Art Collection and recent acquisitions with Dr. Jennifer Finkel, Acquavella Curator of Collections Acquisitions.

Established in 1962, the Student Union Collection of Contemporary Art is unusual in that it was conceived by students, selected by student committees, and purchased entirely with University funds. Every four years since the first New York buying trip in 1963, a small group of students, under the direction of an Art Department faculty member, have researched contemporary artists and the contemporary art market and purchased new artworks for the Wake Forest Art Collection. The Student Union Collection is now the University’s premier collection, numbering nearly 200 artworks by over one hundred different artists. This program is the first of its kind at a university.

Meet at the welcome desk on the 3rd floor of the Benson student center. We will tour the artwork in Benson and then continue as a group to the Hanes Gallery in Scales Fine Art Center where the 2021 recent acquisitions will be on view. Wear comfortable shoes!

Space is limited. RSVP while registering to reserve your spot!
